What is sustainability in architecture? Sustainability for us is, first of all, the demand for one building by completely different generations. Do we know any stable, eternal, architectural typologies? One of the most stable of them is the toilet. Every generation needs it. We modeled the life of one public toilet on the edge of a busy road, recording four major milestones of its development. Birth. At the beginning there was only a hill with one remarkable bush, near which tired travelers stopped. Youth. Gradually, social progress allowed to construct a simple wooden cabin on the hill. A minimum of amenities - pure function, but a new remarkable symbol appeared during this stage. Adulthood. Over time, it came to pass that the toilet is also a place for philosophical thoughts. The cabin on the hill has retained its iconic shape, but has become a glass bulb. The toilet itself was placed right inside the hill and combined with the library. Death. Even destroyed by time, the building has retained its value for society. Having ceased to serve as a toilet, it became a sanctuary for a new generation. Death became rebirth. Has this toilet lived a sustainable life? Definitely yes!
