What will the world be like after the end of capitalism? Today, our currency is money, which creates a culture of consumption. But what if, we imagine a different system of exchange?
In the world of the future, tastes become the currency. You can't collect them, hoard them, speculate on them. You can't even touch them. In the world of foodlands, inhabitants learn to speak the language of flavours from birth. Diversity and transformation reign here.
Foodlands is made up of 9 countries: country of soy Meat, country of Flour, country of Fish, country of Meat , country of Legumes, country of Flavor enhancers, land of Sweets, country of Greenery. The urban space of the Land of Meat is an intricacy of structural patterns of meat cells and bones, smoothly transitioning into tubular massing that forms high-rise towers. The mountainous terrain beginning on the borders of the Meat Country has formed the remote Alternative Meat Country. Constant rockfalls and steep cliffs have forced the settlement into a cave, creating an underground environment with many labyrinthine levels. Next door neighbours the country of Green, whose urban environment is dictated by different cultures, from which green architecture has formed, hidden under the shadow of woody and grassy mega-structures. Bean Country can be described as a tunnel city: each architectural unit stretches out and intetrwines with the next, forming a symbiotic permanent urban megastreet. The need for territory forced the Land of Flour to increase urban space in height, creating a network of spaghetti-like skyscrapers. The Land of Sweets was formed from a multitude of airy and flowing forms, hiding the urban environment from neighbours on all sides. The limited mountainous terrain formed in the Land of Pisces a city of modular configurations that gradually connected to each other to form a scaly pattern. Country of Taste Amplifiers on the edge of the canyon established a settlement of pyramidal forms resembling sodium glutamate crystals Another hermit is the Dysgeusia country, mostly consisting of desert places with burrows, which indicate an underground city. No less important is the canyon, at the bottom of which formed an abandoned chaotic space that is impossible to overlook.
