Theme: masterplan of the planet
The author considers the problem of continental flooding caused by rising water levels as a result of global warming. The main reason of this disaster is the anthropogenic factor, which fundamentally changes the ecosystem. As a solution, the author creates an experimental master plan of the planet, within which she proposes a comprehensive model for the development of the city of the future. An important element of the concept is the development of a new architectural unit - cachalot. It is a dynamic spatial module that adapts to the new climatic conditions of the XXI century. The author defines four types of the cachalots: land, groundwater, aquatic and transitional. Each of them symbolizes the stages of the transition of the metropolis into a fundamentally new version, evolving from earth to water. The land cachalot performs a healing function and restores the planet’s ecosystem. The groundwater cachalot connects the ground and water space, being a communicator and mediator. The water cachalot is the quietest type - it produces resources and energy. The transitional cachalot performs an active research function. The article hypothesises the possibility of a human return to water as a response to the global transformation of the planet under the influence of the ecological crisis. As a result, the possible future of a city returning to a permanent underwater life has predicted. Its main principles are liquid, modularity, whale song, quantum entanglement and creativity.
